This year the Grand Prix will be the 6th round of the Formula 1 World Championship and will open the European Grand Prix. It has been part of the Championship since 1951. At the beginning, it took place on the circuits of Jarama and the one in Montjuïc, the only circuit located in the city of Barcelona. Now and for over 20 years, the Spanish Grand Prix has been taking place in Catalunya. For more information, visit the website of the Federation Internationale, where you can find all the technical details about the Grand Prix, who will be participating, the schedule of all the races in the world in 2017, the ranking, etc.
The circuit of Catalonia is located in the north of Barcelona, in the city of Montmélo. The length of its circuit is 4 655 km, with 16 turns. It is frequently used for Formula 1 drivers’ training. They enjoy it particularly for its straight, longest line of the world championship, which allows them to reach speeds exceeding 310 km/h. Fun fact, Michael Schumacher has won the Spanish Grand Prix 6 times on this circuit. And on this same circuit, in 2016, Max Verstappen, who is 18 years old, became the youngest winner in the history of this sport. This year, the Grand Prix probably holds some surprises. So save the date: May 14th!
