Created by Chef Dominique Ansel in 2013, the cronut is a mix between a croissant and a donut. It is created by frying laminated dough in grape seed oil, which then gets sugared, filled and glazed. The result is a pastry shaped like a donut, with the insides of a croissant.
After its creation, the cronut immediately became one of the most famous and most talked about desserts ever, with millions of fan across U.S.A. With such a buzz going on, it didn’t take long for other countries to become interested and start producing their own version of the cronut.
