Barcelona for students: life on the cheap side

Students are notoriously famous for being low on cash. College tuition, the rent of students flat, food, utilities, groceries… it all adds up in the end of the month, which sometimes makes it difficult to have enough money to engage in leisure activities.

Restaurants

Himali

Located in the district of Gràcia, this Nepalese restaurant serves good exotic food at great prices.

Juicy Jones

100% vegan, Juicy Jones offers a large selection of milkshakes, juices, sandwiches, stews and exotic salads for very affordable prices. You will find it easily in the district of Ciutat Vella.

La Taqueria

La Taqueria is a colorful Mexican restaurant located in the neighborhood of Sagrada Familia that serves quality food, prepared with the best and freshest ingredients.

Bars

Piscis

Red lights, old sofas, and grotesque figurines make Piscis one of the most interesting kitsch bars in right in the middle of l’Antiga Esquerra de L’eixample.

Taberna Blai Tonight

Museums

There are several museums in Barcelona that offer free admission. Some are only free on the first Sunday of the month, while others are free every Sunday after 3 pm.

MNAC: Museum Nacional d’Art de Catalunya: Free every Saturday from 3 pm and on the first Sunday of the month. Address: Parc de Montjuïc.

Museum Marítim de Barcelona: Free every Sunday from 3 pm.Address: Avinguda de les Drassanes.

Museu Picasso: Free every Sunday from 3 pm and the first Sunday of the month during the whole day. Address: Carrer Montcada, 15-23.

CCCB – Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona: Free every Sunday from 3 pm. Address: Montalegre, 5.

Museu de la Música: Free every Sunday from 3 pm and the first Sunday of the month during the whole day. Address: Carrer de Lepant, 150.

MUHBA – Museu d’Història de Barcelona: Free every Sunday from 3 pm and the first Sunday of the month during the whole day. Address: Plaça del Rei.
