Going to an FC Barcelona match

There are a lot of things to do and see in Barcelona: visit the Sagrada Familia, take great photos in Park Güell, walk and shop on Las Ramblas… but you absolutely cannot miss stopping by Camp Nou to watch an FCB match.

The mythical stadium of FC Barcelona is the biggest stadium in Spain and the sixth biggest in the world with a holding capacity of 99354 people. The best football players of the world have been on this pitch: Maradona, Ronaldinho, Figo

The Santiago Bernabéu stadium which is the home of Real Madrid finds itself in second place with a capacity of 85454 people.

In this article, ShBarcelona explains what you have to do if you want to go see Messi, Neymar, and Suarez kick a football on home turf.

If it is not a match day, you can buy your tickets directly from the Camp Nou ticket office, located near access gate 9. The ticket office is open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:30 and Sunday from 10:00 – 14:15. Otherwise – and perhaps the simplest alternative – is to go to the official FC Barcelona website and buy your tickets online. Just remember to print them before getting to the stadium.

The price of the tickets can vary immensely, depending on the context of the match and the rival team which will be playing. The lowest prices start at €30 for a Del Rey cup match (FC Barcelona –  Athletic Bilbao), going up to €450 for a high stake match. For the next Champions League match (FC Barcelona – Arsenal), you’ll have to part with a minimum of €100.

By car: Camp Nou is located on Carrer Arístides Mallol, 12. You cannot park on stadium grounds on match days if you are not a special member, nor in the nearby university car park. We recommend dropping your car a bit further away from the stadium in the car park on Carrer Joan D’Alos.

By metro: if you want to avoid traffic jams, the underground is the way to go. Even though many people will be doing the same, this mode of transportation remains the most accessible on match days. Depending on your journey and where you start from, some routes are preferable to others. Aim for stop Les Corts (line 3) for access gates 1, 20, and 21. The Palau Reial, Maria Cristina, or the Zona Universitària stations (line 3) are best for access to gates 9, 5, and 11. Lastly, head for Collblanc and Badal (line 5) for access to gates 14, 15, 18, and 19.

By tram: the stops you will need are Maria Cristina, Pius Xll, Palau Reial, Zona Universitària, Avinguda de Xile and Sant Ramon (T1, T2, T3), all of which are close to the stadium.

By bus: Numerous buses go near and around the stadium (N2, N3, N14, L12, 54, 57, 59, 70, 75 etc)

Rumbly stomach before the match? Do not worry, you can go into the stadium with food. Bottled drinks are also allowed but the caps will be taken from you at the stadium entrance. Otherwise, there are snacks and drinks available to buy on site. One word of warning, however – do not go to the concession stands at half-time. You risk being stuck in a very long queue and missing the beginning of the second half of the game.

  • I’d say that Barcelona probably it’s in the top 5 cities in Europe concerning leisure, it’s a perfect combination of sun excellent weather and tons of options if you wanna have a good time. I was a bit surprised whenever I went to visit other European countries, such as England, Finland, Sweden, Poland, Morocco and other places….and stroke me to realize that even though I was born here it’s far more fun than those mentioned above.

So if you wanna have a good time just take some time and come to check Barcelona.

    Cheers
