Best activities to do in the parks of Barcelona

One of the best things about a city like Barcelona is that it has so many beautiful parks to enjoy. Parc de Ciutadella, Parc de Joan Miró, Parc del Laberint d’Horta, the list goes on… So here are some of the best activities to make the most of these great parks.

Having a Picnic

Is there any better way to enjoy a park than by having a picnic with friends? If you go to Parc de Ciutadella on any weekend you’ll be sure to find a group of friends or a family celebrating a birthday by throwing a huge picnic. So grab a blanket, head to the supermarket to stock up and lay it all out on the grass ready to tuck in and feast.

Taking Photos

When you’re in Barcelona, it’s hard not to take a photo with all the stunning architecture and views, and its parks are no exception. Take a selfie by Gaudi’s mosaic lizard in Parc Güell, by the grand fountain in Parc de Ciutadella or of you getting lost in the maze at Parc del Laberint d’Horta!

Doing Yoga

If you’re after something a bit more active but not so active that you won’t be able to move the next day, then yoga can be the perfect, relaxing activity at the park. There are several classes that you can take that are usually in Parc de Ciutadella. The website Meetup often has some outdoor yoga classes for you to join.

Reading

Of course, for those of you looking for something a little less strenuous it can’t get more relaxing than dipping into a great book. Find yourself a good spot in the shade and settle down for the afternoon to indulge yourself in a good read.

A fun way to explore a park is by going for a run or taking a bike ride. Park Collserola offers perfect routes for cyclists and runners with incredible views of the city. Another popular spot for joggers is Parc Guinardo where you can wind your way up to the Bunkers del Carmel with some of the best views of the city.
