Activities for Pregnant Women

Exercising during pregnancy can bring a whole range of benefits. It gives you more energy, reduces those uncomfortable aches and pains and helps you get a better night’s sleep, which will be greatly needed before the baby comes! Not only that but keeping a healthy body whilst pregnant can also reduce common pregnancy discomforts. So here is a rundown of some of the main activities in Barcelona for pregnant women. But don’t forget to consult your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program.

It’s no wonder that Pilates has become more and more popular over recent years. It can help your body to gain strength, flexibility and balance. But you do need to make sure that you choose a class that is designed for pregnant women. You don’t want to be trying the ominous-sounding jack-knife position while in an advanced state of pregnancy.

Yoga

Another great exercise to keep you flexible and to strengthen your muscles is yoga. It can also help you relax and is known to be beneficial in managing blood pressure during pregnancy.

Aquatic Activities

Swimming can be the perfect exercise during pregnancy as there is little risk of injury or falling over. There is also less pressure on your joints and water aerobics can be a great cardio workout.

Other Forms of Exercise

Walking is another great option for expectant mothers, anyone can do it and it’s easy on the joints. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and you’re set! Plus walking not only brings physical benefits but is also a great social activity to do with friends or family.

Low-impact aerobics excludes any fast running or jumping and limits the stress on joints. This can be perfect for those who are looking to get a decent workout without the high impact.
