Motis began playing the trumpet when she was just seven years old. At age ten, she began her studies in jazz music at the Municipal School of Music of Sant Andreu where her teacher, Joan Chamorro, recognized her great talent and recruited her for his own band, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band.

During her years with the band, Motis recorded eight discs before releasing her first ever solo album, Emotional Dance, on Impulse! Records in 2017. The album features both her trumpet playing and singing and represents her dynamic abilities as a musician. She has begun making quite a name for herself in jazz music in Barcelona, performing at the Palau de la Musica Catalana and gaining recognition for her music both in and beyond the city, an impressive achievement at such a young age.

In Motis’s debut album, Emotional Dance, her singing takes center stage alongside the trumpet as her beautiful voice transports listeners straight back to the jazz era. The album represents her natural evolution as an artist after so many years working with Chamorro. It’s both an extension of her work with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and a powerful entrance onto the solo stage, exhibiting her talents as both a musician and composer. She composed three of the albums thirteen songs herself, demonstrating her growth in all areas of her work as she propels her music in a new direction.
