A Taste of Asia in Barcelona

Toyo

Located in the Gràcia district this sushi bar is a fan favorite. Toyo is different from the rest of local Asian restaurants – there is a conveyor belt filled with tapas-sized plates of sushi for you to choose from. Fresh, delicious and authentic, the plates are topped with pieces of traditional maki and nigiri as well as portions of other Japanese dishes like yakisoba noodles or tempura. Make sure to arrive early as this bar is always packed. With weekday lunch prices as low as €10, it’s well worth the wait. Toyo is a must for any sushi lover.

Bun Bo

With locations in Barri Gòtic and Raval, this colorful locale serves delicious Vietnamese dishes that are sure to please. Vietnamese cuisine is known for its fresh ingredients and bold flavors, both of which you will find at Bun Bo. Have a seat in this brightly decorated restaurant and start off with some spring rolls or wontons before moving on to your main course. Popular dishes include banh mi (a typical Vietnamese sandwich), bun (vermicelli noodles with meat and vegetables), and pho (soup with rice noodles). In addition to food, you can order a cocktail from the bar or a Vietnamese-style coffee to have after your meal. After all, this is Spain and what is any meal without the coffee and conversation afterward?

El Thailandes

After working up an appetite from shopping and sightseeing on Passeig de Gràcia you can stop by El Thailandes for a delicious meal. Located around the corner from Gaudi’s Casa Milà and Barcelona’s prime shopping area, this little spot is the perfect place to take a break and enjoy good food. The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes sure to please any palate. Pad thai, the traditional noodle dish is a great option as well as the tom kha gai soup, coconut milk layered with traditional Thai flavors like lemongrass, lime, and ginger.

Bun Sichi

Last but not least is Bun Sichi, tucked away in a small alley off of Diagonal. This place is easy to miss if you don’t know where it is but if it’s a big bowl of traditional ramen noodles that you seek, you better do your best to find it! Bun Sichi offers different broths and proteins to pair with the ramen noodles to please all different tastes. The menu also offers other Japanese dishes such as yakitori, dumplings, and sushi, but the ramen is a crowd-pleaser.
