Barcelona on wheels

Barcelona is a flat city with lots of sunshine and great spaces for moving on wheels – and we’re not talking about cars! Skate, bicycle, rollerblades, scooter, choose your favorite and start rolling!

Skateboards

You can find people on boards pretty much all over the city. But the most popular areas to skate in are Plaça dels Àngeles, in front of MACBA, Museo de Arte Contemporáno de Barcelona; Plaça Universitat, due to its large space and variety of benches; Fòrum, a huge space made in concrete; and of course, Skatepark Mar Bella.

If you need to buy some gear, visit Bodo Barcelona at Carrer de la Ribera 6, Magic Wave at Carrer de Pujades 43, or online stores like Inercia and Tactic.

Bicycles

Whether you do it for pleasure, sport or competition, cycling is a healthy, time-saving way to move around. A lot of people use bicycles in Barcelona, using their own bicycle or the city’s bicycle service, Bicing.

If you are looking for a good place to buy a bicycle, pay a visit to Tomas Domingo at Carrer Roger de Llúria 115, Bike Gràcia, which specializes in Bromptons, at Carrer de Terol 30, Bike Stocks at Carrer Sant Sebastià 5, or online stores, King Barcelona and Bikester.

If you would prefer to invest in a second-hand bicycle, try Ciclos Ratera – Bicis Occasion Barcelona at Passeig e Sant Joan 182, Renuevo, at Carrer de la  Selva de Mar 117, Cash Converters at Carrer de Floridablanca 145, Carrer de Balmes 141, Carrer de Sants 367 or Plaça del Mestro Clavé 2.

You can also opt to do your second-hand bicycle shopping online, using websites like Goobici, Todobicis, Segundamano, and BikeZona.

Rollerblades

A lot of the places skaters like to visit are also good places to go rollerblading. One particularly pleasant area to rollerblade is right by the beaches of Nova Mar Bella, Mar Bella, Bogatell, Nova Icària, Somorrostro and Barceloneta, where you will cross paths with people jogging, biking or having a nice stroll.

You can buy your rollerblading gear at Inercia, an online store, Decathlon at Carrer de la Canuda 20, Carrer de la Pau, 12 Moll de les Escales 4-5 (Port Forum), and Avenida Diagional 557 (L’Illa Diagonal shopping center), L’Estel Skates at Carrer del Canigó 3, or Icaria Patinalia at Avenida Icaria 180.

Scooters

The scooter used to be an item associated to children, who would used them happily on sidewalks and local playgrounds. Nowadays it is used by many adults, as a way to shorten distances while moving in not so busy streets.

You can find scooters for sale at Inercia, Decathlon, Radical360 at Avenida Jaume I 141, and Urban Fun at Carrer Salvador Espriu 81.
