If you have ever used the metro stop Jaume I in the Gothic neighborhood, you have probably noticed La Colmena. Founded over one hundred and fifty ago, La Colmena is a famous sweets shop where you can find excellent pastry, bonbons and a variety of yummy chocolates. It’s difficult to decide what catches the attention of the passersbys first: the mouthwatering sweets placed next to the windows or the old-fashioned façade, with its wooden trims, golden letters and tiny curtains.

Founded in 1928, this Viennese-style café looks as interesting from the outside as does from the inside. Go in if you want to feel like you are living in a different era and try the hot chocolate with churros. It’s one of the best in town!

Founded in 1820 and restored in 1902, Pasteleria Escribà is a fantastic pastry and chocolate store by the Escribà family, some of the most famous pastry chefs in Spain. Antoní Escribà has actually been called “The Mozart of chocolate”! There are three Escribà shops in Barcelona. The one of the beautiful façades is located at Carrer de les Floristes de la Rambla, 83, with a collection of colorful tiles and stained glass that make you want to stop and go in.
Farmacia Sanchís
Farmacia Sanchís is one of the most beautiful places you can discover by accident in Barcelona. The façade’s windows have beautiful wooden trimming and the main door has an interesting golden handle. But the pharmacy is even more fascinating inside than on the outside, with mesmerizing carved wood with gorgeous gothic themes.
