Barceloneta Beach

Not only is Barcelona one of Europe’s most exciting and beautiful cities, it also boasts a number of fabulous beaches, with the best known probably being the Barceloneta Beach.

Anyone considering making Barcelona their home, even for a short while , will certainly have the mind made up if they take a trip to Barceloneta Beach, or indeed any of the other of the city’s beaches.

The Barceloneta Beach is situated in neighborhood of the same name in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona. The Barceloneta neighborhood is unusual because of its triangular shape being bordered on one side by the Mediterranean Sea, on the other by the Moll d’Espanya of Port Vell, and the El Born neighborhood.

If cable card are not your thing you can always catch the metro to the beach area from the city center. You should take care to get off at the Barceloneta stop, from there it’s a short and bracing stroll along the Passeig de Joan de Borbo till you begin to see see the marina area on the right, and catch a first glimpse of the Mediterranean.The neighborhood is serviced by its own stop on the Barcelona Metro. Torre Sant Sebastià is the terminus of the Port Vell Aerial Tramway, where sightseers can enjoy a tremendous view of the city of Barcelona as their cable car crosses over the Port Vell on its way to the top of the Montjuïc Hill, a landmark in itself of Barcelona.

 

There is so much going on at the Barceloneta Beach and thanks to Barcelona’s fabulous weather, almost all year round. Apart from sunbathing and swimming, there are always windsurfing as well as windsurfing to take part in, or you can simply sit back and soak in the sun and enjoy a glass of refreshing local beer in one of the many bars spread out along the shore .

Barcelona is famous for its modern architecture, and to the city’s principal attractions are even found on the beach at Barceloneta, The first is a monument designed by famous German artist Rebecca Horn entitled “Homenatge a la Barceloneta”, which many people describe as a psychedelic version of the Tower of Pisa monument, with the other a futuristic sculpture called “Peix d’Or” created by American artist Frank Gehry to commemorate the 1992 Summer Olympics
