Peruvian food is a beautiful integration of European, Asian, and West African influences. As the immigrant and local Inca population began to come together new dishes formed. Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and other influences’ recipes transformed and adapted to local ingredients. Dishes like wantanes, stuffed potato, and quinoa salad began to appear. On the coast, the west African immigrants created ceviche. Today this is the signature dish in Peru.
There are four traditional Peruvian staples that remain. They are corn, potatoes, amaranthaceaes (aka Quinoa) and legumes (beans).

Pakta opened in 2015 by world renowned chef Albert Adria. You might recognize the name from el Bulli. El Bulli was a famous restaurant in Barcelona which closed down in 2011. Pakta is quite different from el Bulli. Since opening, it has quickly become a highly talked about sensation. This Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant offers both a tasting menu and part a la cart. It presents a sophisticated and higher-end dining experience. A gastronomic venture worth having.
The Market offers traditional dishes from such regions of Peru as the coast, the andes, and the amazon. Classic dishes such as ceviche, aries, and papas a la huancaina. Nikkei cuisine, which is a mixture of Japanese and Peruvian, is also offered. If you are looking to experiment with different types of ceviche, this is also a great restaurant to attempt something new.
El Señorio is a family owned restaurant. It is one of the most authentic Peruvian restaurants in the city. It has a huge selection of dishes that will transport you to Peru. Their plates represent the diverse flavors of Peru’s culinary history.
It is an amazing restaurant to try with family and friends.
Tanta is my favorite restaurant in the list. It is chic, affordable and authentic. Everything you are looking for when seeking out Peruvian food. All Peruvian influences are reflected in their menu and they even have a menu del día.
My favorite dish is the Degustación de Cebiches. Three cup-sized ceviche servings of different types of ceviches. Each recipe better than the last.
Electropikal describes itself as more of a Latin American restaurant though their Peruvian dishes are a delight. The wall art and colors are entertaining and fun. It really makes the casual and lively atmosphere.
