Barcelona: Architecture, City And Society: 1975-2015 – Best Read

Barcelona is a city made up of many features that are typical of any major city located in the north-west of Europe. Throughout the centuries this city has constantly been evolving and even though it has seen a decline in its manufacturing industries it has seen an increase in development taking place in parts of the city for high-tech industries to now make the city their base.

As a result of this and as you read through the book called Barcelona: Architecture, City and Society: 1975-2015, you will see how the city’s traditional identity is able to survive even though more contemporary architecture has now begun to appear.

Although changes have been going on throughout the last 40 to 50 years, it is only during the last 20 odd years that major changes have taken place. The first major change of course to take place and which has helped to transform this city is the holding of the Olympic Games here in 1992. In fact, it is this event along with the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004 that has enabled Barcelona to undergo a more radical transformation than any other city in Western Europe.
