Best vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona

Being vegetarian is more than having a diet free from food coming from an animal, is a philosophy with a strong spiritual aspect. Still, it’s very important to balance your intake of fiber, protein, iron, minerals, fatty acids and vitamins with other foods and food supplements. In Barcelona, there are plenty of restaurants offering delicious vegetarian food, recipes and menus that meet all the requirements of a healthy and balanced diet, and tempting us to give up meat forever. If you are spending a few days or a long term in Barcelona, enjoy your stay in one of our rental apartments in Barcelona, and you’re a vegetarian, this information will be very useful for you. Of course, this list is not complete yet; if you find another good vegetarian restaurant or bar, don’t hesitate to comment this article!

L’Hortet: an ideal choice even if you’re not vegetarian! If you want to find a free table to have lunch you better go to l’Hortet before 1.30pm on a weekly day. Their menu is prepared with fresh and seasonal Mediterranean food, and depends on each day’s market supply. As a main dish I recommend you to ask for the famous salad buffet, where you can make your own salad with what you like among a wide range of ingredients. The customer service is very friendly! Location: C/ Pintor Fortuny 32. Tel: 93 317 61 89.

Organic: without leaving the Raval district in which is located l’Hortet, this time a little more hidden in the Junta de Comerç street, we come across the Organic Restaurant, a great place with a very affordable menu (between 10€ and 15€, depending on the day of the week). All products are organic as the restaurant’s name suggests, fresh and seasonal. There is also a massage service and a shop in the entrance where you can buy products that you just ate. Location: C/ Junta de Comerç, 11. Tel: 93 301 09 02.

Teresa Carles: this is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Barcelona, no doubt. In a half rustic-half modern environment, in Teresa Carles you can try the highly recommended vegan croquetas, one of their fresh juices, or a delicious pasta dish, all for about 14€. The decoration of this place situated between Pelayo Street and Tallers Street, take care of even the smallest detail; in the entrance they will give you a scented card to smell before eating to make the gastronomic experience begins in your nose. Location: C/ Jovellanos, 2. Tel: 93 317 18 29.

Amaltea: The owners of this restaurant are the same as those of another one which serves vegetarian Indian food called Govinda. In Amaltea they offer an excellent vegetarian menu at lunchtime, consisting of 4 starters, 4 main courses, homemade desserts and homemade breads to choose from and the drinks for 10,70€. The menu consists of international dishes, depending on the season of the year and the weather, and has an elegant presentation. The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy. Location: C/ Diputació 164. Tel: 93 454 86 13.
