Where to have brunch in the Gothic neighborhood

Surely a day or two have passed by when you thought of going for brunch? But perhaps you thought that it wouldn’t be popular here in Spain? Well, you’d be wrong. The English/American fashion of combining both breakfast and lunch has already reached the city. It’s not difficult to find bars and restaurants that offer brunch; you’ll see it advertised outside many premises.

Milk

After a late night out on the town, why not approach the city center and recharge your batteries in the most emblematic neighborhood? Milk is an Irish-run bar and bistro restaurant, which offers many great options for brunch. They have a great variety of pancakes, as well as many other options, including the traditional choice of full English Breakfast, with eggs, sausages, bacon, beans and hamburgers. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the lengthy menu. And the best thing is, it’s open every day of the week!

Guru Cafe & Cocktail Lounge

Another great place for brunch in the Gothic Quarter is the Guru Cafe & Cocktail Lounge, which has a very relaxed and intimate atmosphere. It is somewhat of a hipster attraction, with many trendy and fashionable people frequenting it often. Here you will find international cuisine, traditional and homemade tapas. And there are also cocktails if you want to continue the party into the next day!

Vegetalia

For the most original bar and restaurant in the area, try Vegetalia. A Gothic vegetarian place that has spent many years in the business, Vegetalia offers simple dishes like veggieburgers and much more elaborate dishes, and wonderfully creative desserts. There’s also food for celiacs and even organic wine. Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, it’s well worth trying a brunch here.

Rasoterra

Finally, another place where they serve brunch in the Gothic quarter is Rasorreta. This is another vegetarian restaurant, serving many different dishes. As well as many local meals, they have a great amount of international dishes, all made with fresh, local ingredients. It can be a little hard to find if you are not familiar with the area, so it’s well worth checking a map beforehand, and once you do you’ll be so glad you did!
