Casa Elizalde is one of the main cultural centres in the area of Eixample. It is best known for the huge range of activities, events and courses that it offers.
As a whole, Barcelona has a lot of cultural centres. These centres offer a great space for exhibitions, courses and workshops, as well as interesting one-off events and activities. The most popular centres are the CCCB in El Raval and Born Cultural Centre, located under the amazing iron structure of Born market. But there are many others dotted throughout the city which often go unnoticed by tourists. For those in the know it can be worth keeping up to date with what’s on in your nearest centre.

Originally the building belonged to the Elizalde family who resided there from 1865 to 1964. The family eventually sold it privately, in 1964, and years later, in 1981, the city bought Casa Elizalde. It was opened to the public with exhibitions and later, lectures and conferences. Soon after, it became known for offering courses and workshops, and then, concerts and readings.
The amount of different activities on offer has expanded to include dance, music, theatre and poetry for both adults and children. Casa Elizalde offers an incredibly varied array of activities, workshops and shows for the public, some of which include;

Casa Elizalde is located on Carrer de València, 302, near Passeig de Gràcia where you can find Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, so you can easily fit it into a day of sightseeing. If you’re interested in other cultural centres to visit, there is also the Born Cultural Centre and the CCCB in El Raval.
