Best cava bars in Barcelona

Written by Samuel

Cava is arguably the most traditional drink you can find in Barcelona, with around 95 percent of worldwide production found in the Penedes region of Catalonia. Wherever you go in Barcelona you are sure to see the sparkling wine being enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The drink is found in basically every eatery and drinkery in Barcelona and the surrounding areas. To try and help you find the best place to enjoy this traditional drink, I have comprised a list of some of my favourite places to enjoy a glass of.

To try and help you find the best place to enjoy this traditional drink, we have comprised a list of some of our favourite places to enjoy a glass of cava or a delicious cava cocktail.

La Xampanyeria

Where? Carrer de la Reina Cristina, 7 (Metro: Barceloneta)

Founded in 1969, this famous cava and tapas bar is the perfect place to enjoy the traditional drink. The venue has developed a fantastic reputation for offering great cava and tapas at ridiculously low prices. Glasses of cava will set you back a mere €1.50 and what’s more, they offer the chance to purchase bottles of cava in their store for only 2€!

Disset 17 Graus

Where? Carrer Antic de Sant Joan, 9 (Metro: Barceloneta or Jaume)

This elegant and cosy bar / restaurant is a great place to enjoy cava in comfort. Nestled away in the trendy born district this bar has a huge range of great cava and just like La Xampanyeria you can order by the glass without having to purchase a whole bottle. Prices are slightly higher than La Xampanyeria but it’s a little more luxurious inside and definitely the kind of place you could take someone for a romantic date.

Casa Mariol

Where? Carrer del Rosselló, 442 (Metro: Sagrada familia or Sant Pau | Dos de Maig)

This cava bar has been serving tapas and wine for over 100 years and it ticks all the boxes – the price is fantastic, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Furthermore they serve drinks produced in house, which includes not just cava but also many other drinks, meaning this place is sure to satisfy everyone!
