CCCB: Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona

The CCCB or Barcelona’s Center of Contemporary Culture is an urban cultural arts center located in the neighborhood of El Raval. The center was created in the end of the 1980s, as part of a project of much needed rehabilitation that the neighborhood was going through.

Today, CCCB is one of the most relevant cultural spaces in the city, which aims to promote knowledge, generate discussion, establish bridges between sciences and humanities, develop projects, stimulate innovation and creativity, and to contribute to the renewal of ideas.

CCCB’s spaces

The CCCB is divided into 13 different spaces, each used for a variety of activities and events. The center’s hall is often used for concerts, lectures, debates and festivals. The archive over 10,000 multimedia references that can be accessed by visitors. The center also has exhibition halls, auditorium and lecture rooms whose programming changes periodically. There are also a bar/restaurant, La Coromines, and a book shop on the premise.

CCCB’s exhibits

The CCCB is most famous for its ever-changing exhibits. Some of the most famous ones the center has held in the recent past have been the World Press Photo exhibit, HUMAN+, which dealt with technology and its relationship with humanity, and Making Africa, which showcased the world of over one hundred African artists.

What are the prices for visiting CCCB?

The price of admission at CCCB depends on the number of exhibits you want to visit. If you choose to visit only one of the current exhibits, your ticket will cost 6€. If you choose to see both the exhibits, your ticket will cost 8€. Senior citizens, students under 25 years old, Youth Card holders, groups of at least 15 people, and card-carrying families pay a reduced price of 4€ for one exhibit or 6€ for two.

There is also the opportunity to visit CCCB for free, each Sunday from 3 pm to 8 pm.

What are CCCB’s working hours?

The CCCB is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 8 pm. The center is closed on Mondays, except on bank holidays.

How to get to CCCB

The CCCB is well located, within the heart of the city, which makes it easily accessible either by car, by foot or using public transportation. If you choose the latter, you can take a variety of buses that stop at Universitat or Plaça Catalunya. If you prefer to take the subway, you can use the yellow line, exiting at Urquinaona, or almost any of the other lines (red, purple, green, brown), which stop at Plaça Catalunya.
