Good drinks at great prices

Barcelona is a city with a strong bar culture, with locals and expats getting together at some of the many of the city’s establishments to have a drink and to spend a couple of hours talking. During the summer, many flock to the chiringuitos, the beach bars that are erected when the weather starts getting hot. Despite their pleasant environment, chiringuitos usually serve drinks at inflated prices, which can become hard on your wallet if you go out for drinks often.

There are plenty of bars in Barcelona that serve good drinks at great prices, which can be visited any time of the year. ShBarcelona is here to recommend some of the best.

Ovella Negra is a big tavern-style bar with a relaxed and young atmosphere. This is a good place to go with a group of friends and drink beers-a-plenty. They serve a variety of tapas and drinks for very low prices, which can attract a real crowd. You can get a ½ liter of San Miguel for 3€ or, for a real bargain, you can order a giant chilled pitcher of beer, ideal for sharing with a large group.

33/45

If you are looking for a bar that is lively and trendy, while also being inexpensive, 33/45, in the heart of the Raval neighborhood right could be up your street. It is a very hip place that is popular among locals and tourists, which means it tends to get very busy at the weekend, with people spilling out onto the street. If you want to go to 33/45 to spend some quality time with your friends, try to go early in the evening during the week.

Psycho

Don’t be put off by the name. Psycho is actually a very cool rock and roll bar in the neighborhood of Poble Sec. They have a great atmosphere, play great music and serve great drinks at a very decent price. If you are planning on going to Sala Apolo to party but would like to get a little buzzed for a cheaper price before going in, Psycho is the place to go.

Espit Chupitos

If there is one thing Espit Chupitos is famous for is for its crazy, out of the box way of serving shots (or in Spanish, chupitos). If you would like to see something truly different, order the Harry Potter shot, which is lit on fire, the Viking shot, which involves a Viking hat and some severe head shaking, or the Monica Lewinsky, served through a plastic phallus.

Location: Carrer d’Aribau, 77

L’Antic Teatre

If you are going to or leaving a show at Palau de la Música Catalana, don’t miss the opportunity to stop by L’Antic Teatre, located just a couple of steps away from Lluís Domènech i Montaner’s modernist masterpiece. This multicultural space has an interior patio that is perfect to stop at for a nice cold beer. They also serve juices, teas and a variety of snacks.

Piscis

Feeling kitschy? Then head down to Piscis in the neighborhood of Raval. Red lights, chandeliers, old sofas, there’s no place quite like it in Barcelona! Stop by for a cheap drink and practice your photography skills – you will have a hard time finding such a colorful, neon-light filled space in the city.

Taberna Blai Tonight

If you tend to get hunger pangs along with your beer pangs, we recommend heading to Taberna Blai Tonight in Poble Sec. Taberna Blai is located in an area famous for its pintxos, bite-sized tapas that usually cost a little over a Euro, which means you will not only be able to enjoy cheap drinks but also enjoy cheap food. Most pintxo places in Carrer de Blai tend to get really crowded, really fast, so if you want to find a place to sit and be able to choose from the best pintxos served, we suggest you get there early!

Location: Carrer de Blai, 23

As you can see, there are plenty of places to go to if you are looking for good, affordable drinks. Choose your favorite one to go with friends or, if you’re feeling daring, take this list and go on a bar crawl.
