There are many low-cost options for travel today, depending on how you want to get around. Everyone knows of cheap airlines like Ryanair and Vueling, but there are options for getting around that could save you a lot more money. If you want to travel on the road, Blablacar is an alternative that is fun and easy on your wallet. This is a car-sharing system that works like a carpool, taking you to different destinations. Sharing a car often comes out to a fraction of the price that a plane or train might. However, if you want to arrive to Barcelona by train, you could check for tickets on Carpling. This is a website where people post ads for train tickets that they can’t use, so often you can buy these tickets for less than the original price. Also, you can create a post about your planned trip to see if anyone is interested in traveling the same route so that you can share a table on the Renfe, making your trip even cheaper.

Accommodation

When staying in Barcelona, you have to think about the route you want to take when it comes to your accommodations. Hotels are often expensive, especially during tourist season, so you could consider alternatives like hostels or home rental. You can rent a flat through ShBarcelona, which has many flats available for rental across the city. You could also consider Airbnb, a website that lets you search for rooms or flats available for short-term rental. Another option, if you’re feeling more adventurous is Couchsurfing, a network that lets you crash on someone’s couch for the night free of charge in exchange for some good conversation. This option doesn’t give you much privacy but is completely free and you will learn a lot about Barcelona from your host, and they could share some secrets of the city with you. This is also a great way to meet people if you are traveling alone and would like to meet some new people in a beautiful city.

Sightseeing

If you’re looking to do some sightseeing in Barcelona, there are a few things to keep in mind to save you a few bucks. Most museums are free on Sundays after 3 PM and all day the first Sunday of the month. If you want to get to know the city a bit more and learn some of the important history, you could go on a free walking tour to see some of Barcelona’s most important monuments. Some attractions, like the zoo, offer a discount if you buy your tickets online in advance rather than at the ticket office. Also, if you’re a student, don’t forget to bring your ID! Many museums and attractions offer discounts to students or those under 26. Be sure to invest in a T-10 card as well to get access to the city bus and Metro, as this will give you 10 rides for €10. With these tips and the money you save, you can enjoy the city and not have any worries!
