Formerly known as the Science Museum of Barcelona, CosmoCaixa is – in museum terms – a young one! Still a new feature on Barcelona’s cultural landscape, the space opened in 2004 after a rejuvenation intervention that lasted 6 years. In this section of the museum, you can explore the progression of the earth and its living organisms through a journey in time. Starting from the beginning of the universe, visitors are encouraged to play with the exhibits to understand how evolution works.
A bonus at the CosmoCaixa, the planetarium is the cherry on the cake of this all-encompassing museum. For an extra €2, visitors get their 3D glasses and can embark on a tour of the universe. Doing so, you can finish your visit after having visited heaven and earth alike.

A special mention, this room is aimed especially at kids aged 3 to 6. Focused on stimulating the senses, children (who must be accompanied by an adult) will learn more about their environment through touch, smell, and interesting sights. A wonderful feature of this museum that shows its concern to keep all age groups entertained.
