How much does it cost to visit Barcelona?

Barcelona has a lot to offer for tourists. The Catalan capital is now at the top of backpackers, couples, and families itineraries. Indeed, Barcelona is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe: it has an incredibly diversified food scene, a wide range of historic buildings to visit and the best nightlife in Europe with bars and nightclubs open until very late. But just how much does it cost to visit the city? ShBarcelona has evaluated the average daily cost tohelp those who are planning on dropping by.

Accommodation prices

You have different options in terms of accommodation for a short term stay in Barcelona. If your main goal is to party and meet amazing people, rent a hostel room or bed in a shared room for a couple of days in the heart of the city. The biggest ones offer cheap drinks and a bar with a view. You will pay from 20 to 45€, depending on how many people you share your room with. If you rent a flat online through AirBnB, prices may vary from month to month and areas as well. You can rent a nice double bedroom in Barcelona from 60€ to 150€ a night. For a romantic weekend or a luxury stay, rent your flat through an agency. The final price will include everything: utilities, Wi-Fi, insurance, and someone welcoming you at your arrival. Renting your own flat for two people will cost you from 70 to 100€ a night.

Transportation prices

To visit the city, the cheapest way would be to buy a 10 rides tickets that you can use in the Metro, Tram and Bus. They may get kind of crowded during the summer months, but they will get you where you need to be. You can also rent a bike for 10 euros a day. There are rental shops all over Barcelona. The more expensive ones are located in Barceloneta. Rent your bike in the center and negotiate the price if you are going to stay more than one day. At night, a taxi ride will cost you from 6 to 10€ and there are taxis all over the city, available all night long.

Food prices

Barcelona can be a cheap destination when you stay far from touristic traps. A tasty breakfast will cost you from 4€ (café con leche and a chocolate croissant) to 15€ (full brunch in a fancy place). Grab a sandwich for lunch and you can spend less than 5 euros. At night, enjoy a draught beer at a terrace for 2 euros or have a fancy cocktail on a rooftop for 10 euros. For a three-course meal for two people in a mid-range restaurant at night, you will spend 40€. On average, you will spend from 20 to 50€ per day on food and drinks, but plan a little bit extra money to treat yourself!

Attractions

Barcelona’s most popular attractions are very expensive: you will pay 23 euros to visit Casa Batlló and up to 40 euros to visit Sagrada Familia, if you want to enter the towers and enjoy the view. The cheapest option would be therefore to buy a day-pass like the Barcelona Card. For 1 day up to 5 days, you will enjoy free public transportation, free entrance to many museums, and up to 30% discounts in the most famous museums in Barcelona. Take the Harbour Cable Car to Montjuic and enjoy the best view of the city (round-trip 12.50€ or one-way 9.00€). If you prefer to stay at sea-level, a walking tour in the city will cost you from 17€ to 25€. You can also take the official Barcelona sightseeing bus, and hop on and off at your pace, from 26€ a day.
