Craft Beer Tours and Tastings in Barcelona

There’s no denying that the craft beer scene is exploding in Barcelona. Plenty of hop heads and brewmasters have taken it upon themselves to create, seek out and offer something more interesting than Estrella and San Miguel. Along with creating some of the best craft beer in Barcelona, several microbreweries offer regular tours of their facilities that include tastings of what they have in on tap.

Edge Brewery

Rated 2014 Top New Brewer in the World By RateBeer.com, Edge Brewing was started by two Americans in 2013. They hold regular Tour & Beer Tasting sessions at their brewing facility in Poblenou, where over the course of two hours you’ll learn about their brewing process and sample American style craft beer with names like “Hoptimista” and “Apassionada.”

Birra 08

On Beer Thursdays from 19:00 to 21:00 Birra 08 opens its doors to the public for a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their brewpub in El Clot. Here, €15 gets you a tour and three beers, but toy can also sign up for one of their homebrew workshops if you’re interested in learning the trade.

Blacklab Brewhouse

At their brewpub and restaurant in Barcelona’s lovely Port Vell, Black Lab Brewery has one of the better value tour and tastings. They’ll show you around their seaside brewery and throw in four of their house-made craft beers for €12. The tour lasts about an hour, but it’s worth it to linger on their patio for a while, as it’s fine real estate for beer drinking and people watching.

Abirradero/Cervesa Artesana


Simply put, Abirradero is looking to make a lasting impression in Barcelona’s craft beer scene. They don’t just make and sell craft beer; they actively promote others to do the same. At the nearby Instituto de la Cervesa Artesana, their guided tours and beer tastings highlight the intricacies and benefits of small-scale brewing and they allow visitors to taste their creations at different stages in the brewing process. Tours are held the last Wednesday of each month, but they also hold longer brewing seminars for those seriously interested in pursuing craft beer as home brewers or businesses.
