The Cursa dels Nassos’ purpose is to bid farewell to 2019, and to do so with one last, spectacular sprint. This sports event takes place each year, just a few hours before the clock strikes twelve and then we start the new year. This is a much-awaited event for many people.
It has now become one of Barcelona’s traditions, and those who will register for the event will have great fun. Do you want to know more about de Cursa dels Nassos? Then read this article by ShBarcelona.

As it does every year, the Cursa dels Nassos will take place on December 31, starting at 17:30h. This year it will be on Tuesday. Ending the year 2019 with a running event is not only motivating, but it will also make people more aware of the need to exercise all year round.
If you didn’t already know, the location of the start and finish are the same, at Carrer de la Selva de Mar in Poblenou. From here, all runners will follow a 10 kilometre route, and somewhere they will pass a tunnel with led- and laserlights and, besides other elements, an exciting fire spectacle.
The route will follow the entire maritime coastline, and from there they will pass the following streets: Avinguda del Marqués de l’Argentera, Carrer de la Marina (in Eixample), Carrer de Bonaventura Muñoz, Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer de la Selva de Mar.
The Cursa dels Nassos is a hugely popular race, and it was held for the first time on December 31, 1999. At that time it was known as the San Silvestre Barcelonesa, but a few years later they decided to change the name. The San Silvestre still exists, and it is also organised on the same day, but the running event has moved to the nearby town of Sant Cugat del Vallés.
The Cursa dels Nassos is organised by the Barcelona City Council, Barcelona’s Sports Institute and the Catalan Athletic Group, which is in charge of the technical part.
Top athletes, runners and people of all ages can register for this sports event, and because there are no strict rules for application, this is one of the busiest running events in the country, after the San Silvestre Vallecana.

If you want to register in person, you can do this at the Centre Esportiu Municipal Horta (in Horta) from December 16 to 22. The opening hours for registration are:
As already mentioned, anyone can participate in this race. There is, however, a minimum age of 16, and if you are 16 or 17 you must hand over an authorization that is signed by your parents (or legal guardian) at the time you collect the bib. Disabled athletes must also register, and they can do this in person or online.
A general ticket costs 14 euros, and you pay an extra 20 cents for the insurance. If you do not have your own chip, you will be provided with a white, disposable chip, and this chip will cost you 2 euros (which is not included in the general fee).
Ending the year 2019 by participating in a running event is a great idea, although there is much more to do in the city. To practice there is even an event in preparation of the real Cursa dels Nassos. It takes place at the Olympic Stadium of Montjuïc in Poble Sec on December 14.
