For those of you wanting to spend the day with the family playing a little bit of golf, or if you would like to learn the basics, here is some information on where you can find the best family oriented pitch and putt locations in Barcelona

First, a little background on pitch and putt. Instead of taking the family through an entire golf course, which for me usually takes over 4 hours, you can take the family to a course that offers “pitch and putt”. A pitch and putt course is only 9 holes, ranging from 60 yards to 100 yards per hole. This reduces the amount of time it takes to play 9 holes and makes it a lot easier. There is no teeing up and driving the ball, hints why the course is at most 100 yards. Pitching is where you use a sand wedge or pitching wedge to get the ball up onto the green where the hole is. Once the ball is on the green, the player putts the ball into the hole. Depending on the location, and whether you have the time or energy, an 18 hole course may be available. Pitch and putt is a great way to teach young ones the most important part of golf.

Here are a few locations that offer a pitch and putt course in Barcelona.

Golf can Dragó

Golf can Dragó is located in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona. It is close to the metro station red line L1 Fabra i Puig. This location offers a recently renovated 9 hole Irish style pitch and putt course that complies with European championship measurements. The course even features lights at night so you can play until 9 pm; 11 pm on summer nights. It has 12 practice cages where you can practice with any golf club, including a driver. If there is a family member that isn’t interested in playing, Golf can Dragó is located directly next to a mall, restaurants, and bars. The price is €9 for 9 holes and €12 for 18. The clubs are free to rent and the parking is free.

Golf Montjuic is not a pitch and putt course, per say, but they do have a 2-story range where you can practice your pitching, and a putting green to practice your putting. They offer golf lessons for children and adults. The price is only €4 for the putting green. I do not have information on whether that includes the range; I would think not. If the kids are not interested in golf, they have a playground where they can wear themselves out. Not to mention they have a pool (you have to be a member to use), paddle tennis courts, a bar, restaurant, 11 tennis courts, squash court, and a gym. Parking is also free here.

Get the family together and go check it out!
