The very first Flaherty’s Irish Pub was founded not in the Catalan capital, but in the city of Seville, in a time when Irish Pubs were gaining popularity, boosted by Guiness, who used them as a way to promote their products on a global scale. Many Irish entrepreneurs recognized the opportunity and decided to start opening their own pubs in foreign lands, to be able to offer the locals a true taste of the Irish tradition of going to the pub.

Flaherty’s Irish Pub was founded by Gerry Enright, an Irish native, who had previously owned pubs in Tenerife. He decided to name the pub after Paddy Flaherty, a famous whiskey seller who operated in the region of Cork and whose legend can be read in any of the bars. But Enright’s homage to Flaherty doesn’t end there: he later had one of the Pub‘s whiskeys named after Paddy. The first Flaherty’s Irish Pub was a success and it developed into a chain of pubs in several regions of Spain.
