Free Parking in Barcelona!

If you travel to Barcelona by car or you live there and you usually move around with your car for work, we are sure this information about where to park it for free in this huge city would be extremely useful. In ShBarcelona we offer apartments in every neighborhood in Barcelona to find the area that best suits your needs and your stay, but we recommend that if you have to move around downtown areas, leave your car parked in one of these free areas and go by metro, bus or train.

zona-azulzona-azulMost of the streets of Barcelona have blue zone (with a payment schedule). This “area azul” (in Spanish) operates according to a schedule, from 9am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8pm. Now, in the center of the city, this time also extends to Saturdays and in the beach area, on Sundays and holidays is also applied. After this time is free to park your car in these areas, so it’s not compulsory to show a ticket on the dashboard.

In regulated parking spots for loading and unloading you can park trucks, vans and crossovers for two people during 30 minutes from Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 8pm. After or before this times these hours you can park in loading and unloading spaces without risk of getting a ticket.

carrega-i-descarregacarrega-i-descarregaIf you go to the malls in the city like La Maquinista, Diagonal Mar, La Illa, Granvia, Heron City, El Corte Ingles, etc., almost all have free parking for the first two or three hours so you can park your car there while you go shopping.

There are areas of the city where, because of they are peripheral, you don’t have to pay to park (such as green or blue areas). Some of these areas are the highest area of Poble Sec (above the Avenida Parallel), the University area (where the majority of universities are located), Vall d’Hebron, Horta, Sant Andreu, Santa Coloma, Bellvitge, etc.

In short, do not despair to find an area to park in Barcelona for free, depending on the area in which you have to drive your vehicle within Barcelona, you’ll always have a more or less close parking option.
