The original Instituto Europeo di Design was founded in the year of 1966, in Milan, Italy. The school’s creator was French-Italian painter and engraver Francesco Morelli, known for his works at Villa of Horace, in Licenza.
Instituo Europeo di Design is considered one of the best design schools in Italy, receiving students from all over the world. The school teaches four major disciplines: Design, Management, Visual Communication and Fashion.
Throughout the years, the school became more and more popular, with new locations opening around the world. Today there are schools from the Instituto Europeo di Design in cities like São Paulo, Rome, Turin and Barcelona.
IED’s school in Barcelona is known as Escola Superior de Disseny. At IED Barcelona, students can receive Undergraduate Dregrees in Design, Bachelor of Arts (Honors) validated by the University of Westminster, IED Diplomas, and enroll in Master and Postgraduate Courses, Continuing Study Programs and Summer Courses.

Projects and Contests
IED Barcelona is constantly organizing contests and hosting exciting projects to inspire people to use their creativity. Some of the contests organized in the past include Furniture Industrial Design and Alternative Poster Contest, while some of the projects included Melancolía (Fashion), Color me In (Fashion) and Alfa (Design).
