Girl Power! A women-only trip to Barcelona

Barcelona is a fantastic city to visit with your girl friends. There is plenty of culture, delicious food, plenty of shopping options and some of the best nightclubs in Europe. Let’s get ready to have some fun!

Flights

If you don’t mind waking up early or having to pack light, you can find very cheap flights to Barcelona. Companies like Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling offer low-cost tickets at excellent prices. Be sure to book yours with plenty of time – the closer you get to your traveling date, the priciest the tickets will get.  If these companies don’t fly from your country, use one of the many search engines available to find the best flight option for you. We recommend Rumbo, Skyscanner and Edreams.

Accommodation

How long are you planning to stay in Barcelona? Do you want to step out the door and be right where the action is, or would you prefer something a little more quiet? There are plenty of options to choose from. Get your girl friends together and talk about it. If you are a very small group, a hostel or hotel could suit you. If you are traveling in larger numbers, why not rent an apartment? You will have all the privacy you need, save money on food by cooking and eating before leaving, and even be able to invite over new friends you make during the trip. ShBarcelona offers some great deals on apartments. Pop by our website and check them out.

Culture

There are so many noteworthy cultural sites in Barcelona, we don’t even know where to start! Here are a couple of suggestions: works of Gaudì (Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Sagrada Famìlia, Park Güell), La Boqueria, La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia, Parc de la Ciutadella, the Gothic Quarter, Montjuïc, Museu Picasso, MNAC, La Catedral, and Arc de Triomf.

Shop

There are a ton of stores where you and your girl friends can shop ‘till you drop. Try Portal de l’Àngel, La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia and Carrer d’Avinyò.

  • Dear,
I am wirting to you representing the Desideratum movement and to inform you of our presence in Barcelona. In fact we have just created the first feminist queer tattoo and piercing studio - bookstore - art gallery entierly composed by woman for woman and friends.
We are living in a society where, unfortunatly, women are not yet fully recognized, stereotypes of perfect bodys and devaluation by gender are generated so we created a place where any woman can get a tattoo or a piercing without being judged, acquier art made by fellow women or buy books specialized in queer and feminist theories. In that spirit we opened the studio in Barcelona Borne area on the 7 th of april. It is the first tattoo studio composed only by female elements, talented tattoo artists who give a different aspect to this practice. we also have a French- English contemporary artist programming all femal only exhibitions for our art gallery as well as selecting all the books available for sale at the studio. The new Desideratum movement, with your possible help, could grow and help creat more places like it, greater visibility leading to equal rights for all women.
    Best regards
    Noemi Garcia - Lorene Abfayer
    And the Desideratum team
