Best places for hot chocolate in Barcelona

When the days are cold and the wind is blowing, walking outside is not the most pleasant of experiences. If you have to get our of the house to run errands but are dreading the feeling because of the chilly weather, worry not, hot cocoa season is upon us!

Take a look at our list of places that serve this delicious drink and mark your map with a cross over the place where you will make your warm up pit stop.

Granja M. Viader

In business since 1870, Granja M. Viader specializes in yummy treats such as hot chocolate with Viader Cream, cheesecake, cured meats and cheese, horchata, flan, crema catalana, mató cheese, and smoothies.

Granja M. Viader is located at Carrer d’en Xuclà 4-6.

Pasteleria Escribà

Founded in 1820 and restored in 1902, Pasteleria Escribà is a fantastic pastry and chocolate store created by the Escribà family, with some of the most famous pastry chefs in Spain. Antoní Escribà has actually been called “The Mozart of chocolate”, so if you are looking for a good cup of hot chocolate, you can’t go wrong here!

There are two Escribà shops in Barcelona, one at Carrer de les Floristes de la Rambla, 83, and the other at Gran Via de les Cortes Catalanes 546.

Chök

Chök is a wonderful dessert shop located near Las Ramblas. Founded in 2013, this shop has become one of the most famous names in the sweets business in Barcelona. At Chök you can try chocolates, cupcakes, macaroons, truffles, cookies, chocolate french fries, donuts, cronuts and much more!  Being specialist in the art of chocolate, Chök also offers delicious cups of hot chocolate.

Chök is located at Carrer del Carme, 3.

Museu de la Xocolata

Located in the former Sant Agustí monastery, the Museu de la Xocolata tells visitors all about this delicious treat. From chocolate’s origins and its arrival in Europe to its medicinal properties and nutritional value, you will be amazed by all that chocolate has to offer.

The museum has a café where they serve top-quality hot chocolate. You can visit the café even if you are not planning to go into the museum.

You can find Museu de la Xocolata at Carrer Comerç, 36.

Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee is what many known as “the British version of Starbucks”. Founded in London in 1971 by Bruno and Sergio Costa, Costa Coffee started out as a family operation of supplying roasted coffee to shops. It was later acquired by Whitbread and spread around the world, now with more than 2800 stores in 30 different countries, including Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and India.

Costa Coffee is a nice place to study, work, read or hang out with a friend. They have a wide variety of coffees, juices, cakes, pastries, and sandwiches. The café also serves tall glasses of hot chocolate, like the Black Forrest Hot Chocolate, the Caramel Fudge Hot Chocolate, and the White Hot Chocolate.

Costa Coffee has several locations in Barcelona. The ones closest to the center are located at Plaça de Pau Vila 1, Carrer de Provença 427, and Plaça de Sant Jaume 3.
