How to survive a hot Summer in Barcelona

Barcelona is a city that can get quite hot during the summer. Instead of zig-zagging your way through the city, jumping from shade to shade or running to the nearest air-conditioned store, try one of the ShBarcelona’s tips for surviving a hot summer in Barcelona.

Go to the beach

Some of the best beaches in the city are:

Barceloneta – Due to its proximity to the center, this is the most popular beach Barcelona. You will probably be approached by street vendors offering fresh drinks or beach items, which can come in handy in very hot days.

Nova Icària – This is the beach where most young people like to hang out. Due to its conditions, it is common to find people practicing water sports.

Mar Bella – Mar Bella is a nice, spacious beach with a section that is used for nudism.

Ocata – If you like calm, it may be a good idea to choose one of the beaches that are further from the center, like Ocata.

Have an ice cream

El tío Che

Famous for serving the best horchatas in the city, El tío Che also has a delicious variety of ice creams to offer. Be prepared to face a long line if you come during the weekend. You can find El tío Che at Rambla Poblenou 44-46.

Amorino

This international ice cream parlor allows you to choose as many flavors as you want, as long as they can fit in your cup. You can find Amorino at Las Ramblas 125.

Bodevici

Bodevici is an ecologic ice cream shop, using milk and fruit that were not treated with chemicals or pesticides. You can find Bodevici at Carrer de Torrijos, 21.

Go to an Ice bar

Icebarcelona is a bar made almost completely out of ice, sculpted by international artists like Marc Lepire and Sven Morawietz. Experience temperatures as low as -5ºC (20ºF), equipped with winter coat and gloves, courtesy of the bar.

Icebarcelona is located at Maritimo de la Barceloneta 38 A.

Go to a swimming pool

Take a dive in one of the various swimming pools in the city.

Llac de Can Dragó at Carrer de Rosselló i Porcel, 7-11 is the biggest pool in the city, with a nice green area where you can relax after a swim.

Llac de la Creueta de la Coll is a lake that transforms into swimming pool during summer. The pool is located inside Parc de la Creueta del Coll, at Passeig Mare de Déu del Coll, 77.

Can Caralleu is a sports club in Collserola Park with two swimming pools where you can swim surrounded by a beautiful pine tree forest. The club is located at Calle de los Deportes 2-8 in the barrio of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi.
