During the Christmas season, Barcelona brings joy to residents and visitors by giving them the opportunity to ice skate in the center of the city with the ice rink “Bargelona”. In the end of November of each year, the rink was assembled at Plaza Catalunya, remaining open until the beginning of January.
But for those who enjoy ice skating, you don’t have to be limited by the Christmas season to glide over the ice. There are two ice rinks in Barcelona where you can skate any time of the year.
Skating Club
Skating Club has been operational since 1974. You can visit the club to ice skate from Monday to Sunday in the mornings between 10:30 am and 2 pm, and afternoons between 4:30 pm and 20:30, though the club is reserved for classes in the evenings during school season. You can either come with your one skates or rent skates at the club. You should also bring gloves and socks, which are mandatory. The club also rents helmets, which are a smart choice if you don’t have much experience ice skating.
If you really enjoy ice skating but are not very good at it, you can enroll in Skating Club’s skating school. The classes are directed at people of all ages and levels. There are trimester courses with a total of 10 classes, once a week, and intensive courses during summer and Christmas, which are only 8 sessions each.
The Skating Club is also a cool place (pun intended) to throw a birthday party, with sandwiches, drinks, cakes and all the time in the world to ice skate.
Skating Club is located at Carrer Roger de Flor, 168.
Pista de Hielo FC Barcelona also has an ice skating school that teaches classes for different levels, starting with classes directed to children between 4 and 8 years old, children from 9 years old on, and then 4 levels dedicated to specializing in certain forms of ice skating. The school also offers ice hockey classes.
Pista de Hielo FC Barcelona is located at Carrer d’Aristides Maillol 12, inside Camp Nou.
