In-Edit’s 10th edition, documentary of the Rolling Stones

If you list music and film in the top-five of your list of interests, what would be better than to enjoy them together in one festival? After nine years of in-crescendo success, the Festival Beefeater In-Edit brings in its tenth year, the best music documentaries to several cinemas in Barcelona. With a splendid inaugural projection in which they will screen “The Rolling Stones Charlie is My Darling”for the first time in Spain, this festival has programmed a list of 62 films that show the best music talents in the world. A unique opportunity to get to know your idols backstage or enjoy unreleased material of their performances. But, what are the dates? You will have to deal with the challenge to choose which movies to see and which ones not according to your schedule and the cinema. The quality level is so high that you’ll want to see them… don’t despair and choose well! The tickets are not cheap (6’50 €) and it will make you think twice. Maybe would be cheaper for you to buy a subscription of 6 tickets for 30 €… In the festival this year you will find several outstanding documentaries such as “Grandma Lo-fi: the Basement Tapes of Sigrídur Níelsdóttir” the story of an old woman who has been ten years recording naif pop albums in her basement, told by Múm and other important Icelandic artists. We may also enjoy a retrospective of Julien Temple with a selection of his best films, two of them on the Glastonbury Festival and several interesting portraits of Serge Gainsbourg, Joy Division, Cecil Taylor and Mark Sandman, among many others. In “Heima“, we join the members of Sigur Ros while travelling through Iceland, and “Searching for Sugar Man“, in which we get to know Rodriguez, the Hispanic Bob Dylan, who disappeared right after achieving a huge fame. In “Sunset Trip” Hans Fjellestad shows us the history of this avenue of Los Angeles that witnessed the psychedelic ’60s, with interviews with Slash (Guns’n’Roses) or Johnny Depp.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the event, In-Edit has published a list of the 100 best music documentaries of the history based on experts’ votes. The very first 10 films, among which are “Don’t Look Back”, “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” or “Let’s Get Lost“, will be screened during the 10-day festival. As this year novelty they have created the In-Edit TV, an online channel, and Doc Alive, which combines the screening of the documentary with the performance of the related artist or musician.
