The Best Italian Restaurants in Barcelona

Barcelona might be famous for tapas, pan con tomate, calçots and patatas bravas, but there are some days when you just want to enjoy a classic Italian meal. The good news is that with so much international influence in the city, it’s easy to find authentic Italian food in Barcelona. So if you’re looking for some great new places to try, ShBarcelona has rounded up some of the best Italian restaurants in Barcelona for those times when you want a little variation from Spanish cuisine.

Da Greco

A favorite amongst stars like Beyoncé, Jay-z, and the Barça football team players, Da Greco is the crème de la crème of Italian restaurants in Barcelona. This two-level restaurant is packed full of artwork, creating a space like an art gallery inside a fine dining restaurant. They offer a tasting menu which allows you try all of their most famous dishes like the parmesan risotto or the homemade lasagne. The lunchtime menu is just as good as the a la carte options, and they also offer a fantastic selection of Italian wines to enjoy alongside your meal. The place is almost always booked full, so it’s worth making a reservation the day before.

Located in Poblenou, Siamoqua is an underdog in Barcelona’s Italian restaurant business. The restaurant is fairly young, opening its doors to the public in 2014, but since then has made quite a name for itself, regularly being mentioned in blogs and travel magazines as one of the best restaurants in Poblenou. They have a fantastic menu featuring classic Italian dishes as well as some of their own creations. Their Pasta is homemade (try the Mezzelune al vino rosso) and they cook their pizzas in the traditional style with a wood-fired oven. They also do deliveries if you want to enjoy great Italian food in the comfort of your own home.

Il Giardinetto

Founded in 1974, Il Giardinetto is one of the most famous Italian restaurants in the city. The low-ceiling space is decorated with treelike columns, forrest-floor carpets, and teal banquettes. The unique atmosphere, along with the live piano performances and candle-lit tables, only enhances the Italian atmosfera romantica of the restaurant.

The menu includes classic dishes such as the shrimp and crab risotto and a spicy tuna tartare. However, if you want a true Il Giardinetto experience, try some of the chefs own creations such as the baked brie with tomato and apple marmalade or the Iberian egg roll.
