While not technically located in Barcelona, Montserrat Rull is a Catalan producer of artisan marmalade located in nearby Tarragona. With all their products available online, however, you don’t have to travel all the way to Tarragona to try them.

Unlike the previous shops mentioned, artisan marmalade is the number one specialty at Montserrat Rull. The business started back in the 90s with the rise of the quince crop in a small Tarragona village called Alforja. Today, they produce a variety of marmalades that some consider to be the best in the world. From harvesting the fruit to making the marmalade, the entire process is done using traditional methods that give it that special, homemade taste.

Address: Carrer de l’Hospital, 5, 43365 Alforja, Tarragona

The taste of conventional, store-bought jams doesn’t even come close to that of homemade marmalade. Perfect for spreading on toast or croissants or adding to baked goods like cakes, sweetbreads, or donuts, marmalade adds a special touch of fruity sweetness to a variety of foods. Try some of these high-quality marmalades in Barcelona and you won’t be disappointed.
