Two stars

Only four restaurants in the whole city have been awarded with the two-star distinction. Two of them are in Eixample: Moments, in Passeig de Gracia 38 and Lasarte, in charge of Martín Berasategui and with a Basque touch in its cuisine,on Mallorca 259. Both of them offer creative cuisine. Make a note that Lasarte only offers dinner.

In the lively Vila Olimpica, in the famous Hotel Arts and close to the sea, you will find Enoteca (Marina street 19), with a really attractive decor and modern Mediterranean cuisine.

And the last restaurant from the list, Àbac, can be found in the upper part, Sarrià (avinguda Tibidabo 1). The restaurant has been beautifully designed and presents a wonderful terrace and garden. The kitchen, run by chef Jordi Cruz mixes creative cuisine and excellent technique.

There’s no need to say that all the restaurants present an interesting wine list. You can check the websites for prices of tasting menus, that range between 130 and 160 € approximately.

One star

If you want to experience the good cuisine but one Michelin star is enough for you, there are 20 options in the city. Many of them are based in Eixample: Alkimia, Caelis, Manairó, Fonda Gaig, Tapas 24. Monvinic, Angle or Cinc Sentits. Worth mentioning is the historical Casa Calvet, settled in a Gaudi designed house. In the upper part of Barcelona, Sarrià, you will find Saüc, Hofmann, Via Veneto or Hisop, for example. In the lively Raval, on the other hand, you can experience the fusion of Asian cuisine and Catalan tapas in Dos Palillos, run by Albert Raurich, former chef de cuisine in El Bulli.

Be advised that some of these restaurants present the amazing opportunity of tasting a lunch menu for less than 40€. The restaurants that offer this deal are: Hofmann, Nectari, Manairó, Caelis and Alkimia (check the websites for the specific days of the deal, some offer it even on Saturday).
