Things To Do Before You Move To Barcelona To Study

Are you thinking of going to Barcelona to study? If you are then you will be among the many thousands of students who have also decided to go as they now teach the various courses at their international universities in English. However as well as getting your course arranged you also need to get accommodation sorted out and making contact with a company such as ShBarcelona can help you with this aspect of your time n the city.

Finding a place to live when you decide to study in Barcelona with the help of a company that allows you to rent a flat in Barcelona on a long-term basis shouldn’t prove difficult. However before your search begins you need to know what you need.

When it comes to accommodation for students you have two types available to you. You can either go for apartments to rent in Barcelona where you live alone or you can opt to share an apartment with others.

What is important however when deciding where to live in Barcelona that you think about how far you will have to travel from it to where your studying takes place. Luckily for you the public transport links are very good and so getting from one location to another shouldn’t prove all that difficult and the cost of traveling on either the trams or metro is relatively inexpensive.

However how far you travel shouldn’t be the only thing you take into consideration when choosing where to live in the city. You also need to consider what other amenities are close by to you. For example you need to know where the supermarkets etc. are in relation to your apartment because you don’t want to be traveling for miles with loads of grocery shopping. Of course you want a few bars and cafes near by so you can enjoy a night out once in a while.

Although you can see what is on offer online, when it comes to actually choosing your student accommodation I do recommend you arrange a visit to the city before your course begins. This way you can get a better feel for the city and its transport links.

During the time you are visiting it is best to arrange as many appointments as possible to view apartments for rent. This way you can get a better feel for what is available and what really suits your tastes and needs.

Along with arranging accommodation another thing you may want to consider doing especially if you intend to remain in Barcelona for a number of years is to open a Spanish bank account. Contact the university where you are going to be studying, as they may be able to provide you with details of the banks that they have agreements with that allow you to open an account more easily.

If the university cannot provide you with details of such then I would highly recommend you arrange to go to the likes of La Caixa or Caixa Cataluyna to get an account opened.
