Open air markets in Barcelona

Do you feel like shopping but have grown tired of spending time inside shopping malls and stores? Then try exploring some of Barcelona’s open air markets.

Flea Market BCN

Flea Market BCN is an event in which people can sell items that they don’t use anymore. Clothing, decoration items, books, records, toys, you can find a great variety of previously owned products for very affordable prices. There are even vendors that accept trading instead of selling.

Anyone can have their own table and sell their own items at Flea Market BCN, just join the Flea Market association, pay the necessary fees and start going through your house to discover what you don’t use anymore.

El Rastro de la Vigen

Founded in 2012, El Rastro de la Vigen is Barcelona’s first recycled art, second-hand clothing and books outdoors market. Organized by a cultural association that bears the same name as the market, this event was created so that people could get rid of items they no longer had any use for and for artists to showcase their works of recycled art. Interested in joining? Then visit El Rastro de la Vigen’s official website.

Palo Alto Market

The Palo Alto Market, which happens at least once a month, is a new and trendy kind of street market where you can buy unique design, decoration and clothing items.

After you finished shopping, you can grab a bite in one of the various food stands, choosing between Italian, organic, gourmet or street food.

There are usually interesting exhibits and activities going on during the two days of the market, like 100% Organic Design, an installation presenting furniture made entirely out of bread.

The Palo Alto Market is not only for adults. There are rag dolls, wooden toys and various other items created by hand by artists presenting their work for sale. But that’s not all: there are also workshops where kids can roll up their sleeves and get to work, learning how to build paper flowers, beautiful cardboard boxes, etc.

The soundtrack to the Palo Alto Market is provided by local DJs and a couple of live music performances.

Encants Barcelona

One of the oldest markets in Europe, Encants de Barcelona is a place where you can find a variety of new and old products sold by hundreds of sellers. There are even public auctions held thrice a week, attracting people from all over the city. At Encants Barcelona you can purchase handcrafted items, electrical appliances, books, clothing, antiques, furniture and more.
