The beach is a good place to start, as there are numerous options available. From Sant Sebastia beach to Llevant beach there is a wide walkway (10 km), which is great for walking, running, cycling, and rollerblading. Along the way you’ll find beaches with volleyball nets, a workout area and even table tennis. Just near Parc de la Barcolenta you’ll find a small training area by the beach with pull-up bars and similar bars ideal for a street workout. In this are,a you’ll also find some volleyball nets. The best two beaches for volleyball are Nova Icaria and Bogatell. You can access this via multiple stops along Line 4. The ones closest to the beach are Barceloneta and Vila Olympica.

What if you’d rather do some sports away from the busy beaches? If you want a few options you can try Parc El Clot where there are several basketball hoops and a small paved football pitch. There is also a place for table tennis and paddle ball. Speaking of paddle ball, it’s becoming a popular sport in Barcelona and there is also a court in Parc de les Aigües by metro stop Alfons X, accessible by Line 4. Another nice place to play football is along El Besos River as there is a long stretch of grass starting near the coast and going all the way up to Trinitat Vella. This is also a popular place for a cyclist, runners, and roller bladders. This can be accessed by FGC stop Sant Adriá De Besos and metro stops Verneda (Line 2), Baró de Viver (Line 1), and Bon Pastor (Line 9N or 10).

What about if you’re a runner and want to train for your next race in Barcelona? There is a running track by the Olympic park, which you can get to by FGC or metro stop Placa Espana. Here you’ll also find a baseball field. Another option on the other end of Barcelona is one near Fabra i Puig you can get there by FGC or Line 1. Finally, there is a quirky 200-meter track at Glories, which you can get to by Line 1. However, these are all dirt tracks, except the one at Glories. If you want an official track, you’ll likely have to pay for a gym that has one.

Hope you’ll enjoy all these free sporting areas in Barcelona! If you know of any more, feel free to add them in the comment section.
