4 Ways to Spend a Relaxing Day in Barcelona

Today’s society is characterized by a non-stop, frenetic rhythm of work and responsibilities. The rinse and repeat formula of wake up, go to work, do chores can cause feelings of exhaustion and stress, reducing your quality of life.

It’s important to take time for yourself and engage in activities that allow your body and mind to relax. Here are a couple of suggestions on how to spend a relaxing day in Barcelona.

A relaxing day in Barcelona – where to go

Go to the beach

Start the day by spending some time in the sun. Barcelona has an enormous coast with various beaches to choose from. Barceloneta and Nova Icària are the closest ones to the center, which means they are also the busiest ones.

Bogatell and Mar Bella are usually a little more peaceful, while beaches like Ocata, removed from the center of the city are the ones that offer the most relaxing and private experience.

Have a picnic in the park

There are several beautiful parks in Barcelona worth visiting. The oldest and most famous one is Parc de la Ciutadella. This park has plenty of green spaces where you can spread a towel and sit for a delightful meal in good company or by yourself.

There is also a lake where you can rent a boat and paddle among ducks and aquatic trees, and a majestic fountain/waterfall with sculptures by Rossend Nobas, Venanci Vallmitjana and Francesc Pagès i Serratosa.

Watch a good movie

There is nothing like a good laugh or a good cry to invigorate the body, releasing the pressure of blocked emotions and stress.

Give in to the pleasure of motion pictures in one of Barcelona’s original version movie theaters: Cine Meliés, Cinemes Girona, Cines Verdi, Yelmo Icària, Renoir Floridablanca, or Filmoteca de Catalunya.
