Barcelona is known around the world for its unique and famous architecture, especially that of Antoni Gaudí. When tourists and visitors arrive in Barcelona many of the first things that they arrange to see are the famous works like the Sagrada Famíla, Parc Güell, and Casa Batlló. This monument was built in 1877 and was originally used as a private residence by the Batlló family, who loved its unique design and location. With the famous Modernisme style that dominated Barcelona at the time, this house was inspired by St. George and the dragon, a story that is celebrated in Catalan folklore. Over the years the house became owned by different companies and used as office space, and in 2005 was named a UNESCO Heritage Site. Now, the doors are open to the public to discover the magic that Casa Batlló has to offer.
