Where to Study Journalism in Barcelona

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)

The Department of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in the field of journalism. Their Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism teaches students with a practical approach to all forms of journalism including print, radio, television, and online mediums. The teaching staff aims to promote each student’s skills in analysis, organization, and communication through work in all media channels.

The majority of Spain’s top journalists were taught at UAB under the instruction of the Faculty of Communication Studies, making it one of the best places in the country to study journalism and communications.

The University of Barcelona offers a Master’s Degree program in journalism that lasts one year and requires seventy-five credits. In the program, students are trained to work in a variety of media channels and interchange between them. The ultimate objective of the Master’s Degree course at UB is to prepare students for a career in the ever-changing environment that is journalism in the real world.

Finally, the Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism offered at the International University of Catalonia prepares students for a career in a variety of communications fields such as television reporting, editing, investigating, writing, advising on political communication, and more. Professors aim to create responsible and ethical journalists who are able to work within a global context. The program covers three professional categories of journalism: Writing of journalistic information, managing communications, and managing an information company. Students will learn how to self-evaluate their work, analyze a variety of information across different media channels, master various research sources, and work as part of a journalistic team.
