Some people get distracted by noise and can only study or work in complete silence. Others can’t seem to focus or feel motivated if they try to study in isolation. For those who feel like they need a “soundtrack”, a little background noise to get things going, here are some of the nicest places to study away from home.

The beach
Any of the beaches of Barcelona are a great place to study while you tan. The best way to guarantee the beach is not so noisy that you can’t even think is to go early in the morning. It’s also a good idea to avoid the most popular beaches, like Barceloneta, since those are the ones that usually get crowded. Just pack some sun lotion, a towel and a hat and enjoy a good study session in the sun. Don’t forget to take your books.
Cosmo Café y Galeria
Cosmo Café y Galeria’s walls are filled with art, which you can enjoy over a refreshing smoothie and a sweet or salty bite. The café has tables outside, inside and a lounge area with a nice sofa. Choose your seat and enjoy your study time in this colorful café/galleria.
Granja Petitbo
Located at the pleasant area of Passeig San Joan, Granja Petitbo offers tasty meals and snacks as well as a nice space with wooden tables that you can use for study. You can also sit outside to enjoy the sun and a nice breeze. Granja Petitbo can get quite busy at lunch time, so try to go early in the morning or in the middle of the afternoon. Unlike some places, Granja Petitbo does not close during the siesta period, opening every day from 08:30 to 22:30.
Molika Café
This tastefully decorated cafe offers a variety of sandwiches and pastries you can enjoy while being served by a professional and courteous staff. You can find Molika Café at Carrer Casp 47.
Parc de La Ciutadella
If you like studying outdoors, Parc de La Ciutadella is the place for you. This enormous park has several different areas where you can sit with your books for a good study session. One option is to sit on one of the benches by the fountain, whose babbling sounds provide a soothing environment. Another great choice is to sit on a green patch next to a tree. Lean your back against it and enjoying the shade while you study. You can even take your shoes off and feel the fresh blades of grass rubbing against your bare feet.
