Spanish culture is rich in music and dance and one of the most well-known styles is flamenco, a distinctive style of music accompanied by dancing and singing originating from the southern region of Andalusia, as well as in Murcia and Extremadura. While flamenco is most popular and traditional in the south, there are still many places in Barcelona where you can have the chance to see and hear what makes it such a captivating experience. At Tablao de Carmen you can take in everything flamenco and immerse yourself in Spanish culture.

Tablao de Carmen was established in 1988 and named after the famed flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya, a Barcelona native and regarded as the best flamenco dancer of all time. She traveled around the world and brought flamenco to the forefront, performing for presidents, appearing in films, and becoming the first woman to dance in matador pants instead of the traditional gypsy dress. Tablao de Carmen is designed to look like a traditional patio Cordobés, with potted flowers and arches that are reminiscent of the beautiful Andalusian city where flamenco has deep roots. Bathed in warm colors and dim lighting, the atmosphere helps you to focus on the sensation and magic of the flamenco performance.
