TEDxBarcelona Women

This year the Casino de Poblenou receives the 2015 edition of TEDxBarcelona Women.

For those of you who are not familiar with TED, here’s the scoop:

TED is an acronym that stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. TED was founded 31 years ago, by the non-profit Sapling Foundation as one singular event, developing into an annual conference series in 1990.

TED, whose slogan is “Ideas Worth Spreading”, gathers each year a group of lead thinkers and doers who speak to the audience about what they are most passionate about. TED started off by giving focus to technology and design. But as the conferences grew bigger and more famous, TED started to offer talks in various cultural, scientific and academic topics.

Over the years the appeal of the TED conferences became so big, the foundation decided to create TEDx, self-organized events that gather people for a TED-like experience, allowing many countries to join in on the spirit of ideas worth spreading.

ted2ted2TEDWomen is yet another category where the speakers are mainly women.

This year’s TEDxBarcelona Women speakers are: Aiona Irurre, the Vice President of Human Resources and Internal Communication Iberian Zone; singer-songwriter Amparo Sánchez, Mercedes Wullich, journalist and entrepreneur; Didac Lee, entrepreneur; Amaya Valdemoro, ex-basketball player; Ima Sanchís, journalist; Gemma Cernuda-Canelles, communications manager; Secretary General of the Swedish Men for Gender Equality Thomas Agnemo; filmmaker Amie Williams; BCN Roller Dance, a sporting, social and cultural organization; Daniel Epstien, entrepreneur; documentary filmmaker Kassidy Brown and communications expert Allison Rapson, partners in We are the XX; Les Salonnières, an artist collective; French folk singer Swann; Françoise Laborde, Board Member of the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel; Gerardo Porteny Backal, founder of 5 NGOs; Patrícia Soley Beltran, ex-fashion model, actress and TV presenter; Soraya Chemaly, feminist writer, media critic and activist; journalist and author Mariane Pearl; Huffington Post and Linked In contributer Anne Ravanova, Nora Poggi,  journalist; Chiara Condi, creator of Led by Her; Babou Olengha-Aaby, Ceo and Founder of Mums Mean Business; and Shelley Burdine Prevost, cofounder of JumpFund.
