In the era of environmentalism, Europe has been taking the lead in new forms of transportation without the use of gasoline. People still need their own cars, but they have become an expensive commodity to own and handle. Many European automakers have turned to electric vehicles, and the American-based Tesla has jumped in to sell their cars all over the continent, including right here in Spain.

What is Tesla?

Tesla is the world famous electric, lithium-ion battery car production company founded in 2003 with Elon Musk as its CEO. Named after the physicist Nikola Tesla, the company was named by Consumer Reports as the top American car brand and ranked 8th among global automakers. Based in California, its aim is to grow the alternative fuel industry with electric vehicles challenging gas vehicles. Tesla has been great in marketing and advertising, motivated by the growing popularity of alternative fuel in the 21st century and leading the way in the future of automaking. Only recently has the company tapped into the Asian and European markets, but it is steadily gaining popularity in both continents.

Tesla Car Models

There are three known Tesla models produced: The Model S, Model X, and Model 3. The Roadster is no longer produced, but a second hand can still be bought and the new version of it is due in 2020. The Model S is designed to be the safest and most exciting sedan, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds. It includes autopilot assisted driving so you can be on the road safely and stress-free. The Model X is the safest, fastest, and most capable all-terrain sports car with its all-wheel-drive feature and space for seven adults plus cargo. The Model 3 offers 350 km of driving freedom and is built to produce the best results in all safety assessment categories.

Tesla in Spain

There are four Tesla stores located in three cities in Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia. Barcelona, which has the honor of being the first Spanish city in which Tesla opened a store, welcomed the company this past September. They have two locations on Passeig de Gracia and Metalurgia. For used vehicles, prices go with a four-year, 50,000 miles limited warranty or a two-year, 100,000 miles maximum limited warranty starting €86.000 for the Model S based on customization, all-wheel drive, and other packages. For the Model 3, prices start at €35.000 before all other customization options. These include Premium Upgrade (€4.400), Enhanced Autopilot (€5.200), and Rear Facing Seats (€3.500).
