The best pizzerias in Barcelona

Although many will say that the best pizzas are eaten in Italy, Barcelona, being a Mediterranean city that has traditionally received a lot of Italian immigrants, also offers the opportunity to enjoy this “delicacy” in many restaurants and bars. For those who want to avoid the common Telepizza and taste some homemade pizzas cooked in a wood stove, here are some suggestions…

Fratelli La Bufala– if you’ve traveled a bit around the world this name probably will sound familiar to you because there are Fratelli La Bufala even in Miami. Their pizzas, filling and original following the Neapolitan style, will leave you more than satisfied. Many Italians living in Barcelona like go eating pizzas at this restaurant. C/ Pau Claris 72.

Gusto – here you will find tasty pizzas made with imported directly from Italy ingredients. You will choose one of them from an extensive menu at very reasonable prices. If you ask for your pizza to be cooked in the wood stove, Neapolitan expert chefs would be delighted to accept your request. They also have home delivery service. C / Rossello 108, 933 236 575.

La Pizza del Born – although this place doesn’t stand out because of its comfort (it’s usually full of people sitting at the tables or at the bar), offers the tastiest pizza throughout Barcelona. And there’s a wide range where you can choose from! Located, as the name implies, in the central district of El Born, they sell portions or whole pizzas at a great price. Passeig del Born 22. Open until 1am.

Da Paolo – the Italian chef of this restaurant, Paolo Ciccardi, has over 30 years of experience and he makes an effort to maintain the familiar and nice environment at his restaurant. It’s also worth to mention the quality of the food on here. They offer pizzas suitable for coeliacs and at Friday’s and Saturday’s nights you can listen to some music played by excellent pianists while you are eating. Avenida de Madrid, 63.

Pizzería Ciao – this pizzeria, located in the district of Sants, will surprise you because they prepare the pizza you have ordered there in front of you. Don’t leave without trying one of the homemade desserts or drinking some limoncello at the end of the meal. Being located in a residential neighborhood, the environment there is familiar and the prices are the most affordable of all. C/ Tenor Massini 16.

L’Aldilà – the pizzas at this restaurant, located in Poblenou, are cooked according to the traditional recipe and include ingredients imported from Italy. The final detail that will make your pizza taste delicious is that is done in a wood stove as well. You can also choose an excellent wine from the wine menu or let the waiter gives you some advice about it. Oh, and the decor is really beautiful… C/ Llacuna 106.

Maur – there are two Maur Restaurants in Barcelona, one at C/Urgell 9 and another at C/ Muntaner 121. Although Maur is not an Italian Restaurant, they take advantage of the big wood stove they have inside the place to cook meat, “calçots”, and all kinds of Mediterranean products and dishes as pizza, for example. You won’t be disappointed!
