Jerusalem

Jerusalem is one of the best plays currently in theatre in Barcelona. You can enjoy this play from November 14 to January 6. Performances are at Teatre Romea in the neighbourhood of El Raval.

Jerusalem is a very powerful play, and it is both magnificently directed and performed. Its director is Julio Manrique, and a large cast of actors perform in it. One of the main characters is actor Pere Arquillué.

El Mercader de Venècia

The Merchant of Venice is a special version of Shakespeare’s play, and money plays a key role in this play.

The prosperous city-state of Venice is the epicenter of absolute wealth starting from the 14th century, and in the play, this wealth creates conflicts between characters. Complex subjects, like greed, betrayal, usury, wealth and the hatred between cultures, are illustrated on stage.

All these themes become intertwined and this causes both comic and tragic moments, pretty much as in life itself. You can see the play at Versus Glòries in the neighbourhood of Poblenou.

Pel davant i pel darrera

One of Barcelona’s best plays returns: Pel davant i pel darrera. (The original from Michael Frayn is called Noises Off.) This version, however, can be seen in theatre from November 13 to December 15. The successful comedy premiered in London in 1982, and ever since then, it has become an absolute classic.

The play talks about theatre, and as it is a comedy, you will surely have a good time and share quite a few laughs. Performances are at Teatre Borràs, one of the best theatres in Barcelona, in the district of Ciutat Vella.

Odio (Hate)

Dani Rovira is back on stage with his new show ‘ODIO’. The comedian from Andalusia will present his most honest – and utterly insane – a vision of today’s human beings in his new stand-up comedy show.

After several different shows that were an outstanding success, it is now time for ‘ODIO’. And although there is always a great amount of humor, it highlights many differences and extremities.

You can see Dani Rovira’s show in Teatro Tívoli, which has one of the best theatre programs in the city of Barcelona. The theatre is located in La Dreta de L’Eixample.

West Side Story

West Side Story is one of the most important and iconic musicals of global theatre. It is considered as one of the best musicals in history, because of the music by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.

Choreographies were developed by Jerome Robbins, and they have proven to be some of the most popular contemporary dance choreographies ever. Teatro Tívoli lets you experience the streets of New York, by bringing one of the most exciting love stories with inspiring music back to life.
