The Three Wise Men, Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar, will arrive as true kings on board of a boat called Santa Eulàlia. They are expected to arrive at the port of Barcelona on Sunday, January 5, around 16:00 in the afternoon.
Of course, the Three Wise Men will not arrive alone, they are accompanied by their entourage of royal pages and other magical figures. Your young children will be mesmerized upon seeing them, because they realize their wish lists will be collected now, and hopefully, all the gifts on those lists will be distributed on this truly magical night.
Barcelona will give the Three Kings a warm welcome by handing over the keys to the city and all its homes. This makes it a lot easier for all the gifts to end up in the correct places.
The parade will pass some of the most characteristic streets in Barcelona, and its final destination is the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc in the district of Poble Sec. The event will end at the fountain around 21:00.
The parade takes approximately three hours from start to finish, and it will therefore begin in Parc de la Ciutadella (in Ciutat Vella) at 18:00.
The parade will visit the following streets, until it arrives at the Fountains of Montjuïc: Vía Laietana, Passeig d’Isabel II, Fontanella, Plaça Urquinaona, Pelai, Plaça Catalunya, Sepúlveda, Plaça Universitat, Avinguda Rius i Taulet and Plaça Espanya.
This parade is special and lots of fun, because of the entourage of royal postmen, pages, and dancers on and surrounding all the floats.
Children are always very eager for this moment to arrive, and parents, of course, try to meet their expectations. An interesting fact is that, during the parade, 7 tons of candy will be shared.
