A day at the Tibidabo amusement park

The Parc d’Atraccions del Tibidabo or Tibidabo Amusement Park is, as the name indicates, an amusement park that stands on the Tibidabo mountain. The park was created by an entrepreneur by the name of Salvador Andreu over one hundred years ago, in 1899, opening its doors in 1905. This makes it one of the oldest amusement parks in the world that are still operational. The park occupies the third spot among the oldest amusement parks in Europe, with some of its original attractions and a lot of new ones.

Visiting the Tibidabo Amusement Park

The Tibidabo Amusement Park has a special charm for most of those who were born and raised in Barcelona, who are transported back into their childhoods, when their parents would take them to the park to spend the day jumping from attraction to attraction.

How much does it cost to visit the park?

Regular tickets are priced at 28.50€ per person for adults. Children under 1.20m high pay 10.30€, while children under 90 cm can go in for free. Senior citizens pay 9€ per person and disabled people pay 5.60€. There are also other options like the “Unforgettable day” pack, which includes 4 tickets to the park, free parking, a meal for four people, popcorn or cotton candy, 2 cups featuring Tibidabo’s mascots, and 2 photos to choose from, taken while you are riding “La Mina d’Or” or the roller coaster. This pack costs 250€. There is a slightly more expensive package available, for 300€, which grants entrance to 5 people, instead of four.

Attractions at the Tibidabo Amusement Park

When you enter the amusement park, you are immediately met by one of the attractions that can be seen from far way when you look up at Tibidabo: the colorful Ferris wheel. A nostalgic carousel, a tower that goes up into the sky, and some food stands also await for you at the first level.

As you start going down, you will find Miramiralls, a house of mirrors that will have you laughing your head off as you see your funny reflection. This is also the level where you will find the Museu de Autómatas and a plane that slowly flies over the park terrace while its occupants enjoy the excellent views.

Keep going down and will be met with the always fun bumper cars, with one area for adults and an area for small children, to protect them from the rougher adult and teenage drivers.

One of the most popular attractions in the park, which is not for the faint of heart, is also located on his level. Enter the Hotel Krüeger and you will be screaming and possibly having nightmares at night, after you have been chased by the likes of Freddy Krüeger, Chucky, and Leatherface.

Further down you will find the 4D cinema, Diavolo (the flying chairs), Hurakan, a ride that will have you turning upside down and facing the water, two roller coasters, a haunted castle, a pirate ship that swings back and forth with great force, log rides and more!

The Tibidabo Amusement Park may seem a bit outdated when compared with newer amusement parks, but it still packs a punch in what regards hours of fun!

How to get to the Tibidabo Amusement Park

The Tibidabo Amusement Park is located at Tibidabo Square, 3-4, on the Tibidabo mountain. 

You can get there by taking bus T2A from Plaça Catalunya, on the corner of the plaza and Rambla de Catalunya, right in front of the Desigual shop.

You can also take shuttle bus T2B right in front of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, at Passeo de la Vall d’Hebron, 138-176.

Another option is to take the funicular railway from Plaça Doctor Andreu.
